Spring 2024 Digital Scholarship Hackathon

May 10, 2024 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. AZ

Durham Hall | Lunch provided

The Spring 2024 Digital Scholarship Hackathon will provide attendees with a space for skill sharing, collective knowledge building, and networking. This hackathon will be an open meeting where humanists and technologists of all skill levels can learn and build together in sessions proposed in advance—sessions will be created directly from your professional development needs and skills.

This event is open to all ASU students, staff and faculty, and is free to attend. Register today!

Based on the THATCamp format, this event will be:

collaborative – everyone participates in setting the schedule and goals for the event; you can participate as an attendee, as a session leader, or both!

informal– there will be no formal presentations or lengthy paper sessions; instead the focus is on activity: building, creating, or discussing.

productive– attendees will be encouraged to build, code, create, write (writing sessions encouraged!), or experiment; we will create an open forum for attendees to share our their work.

focused on professional development – ideally, this hackathon is an opportunity for you to learn new concepts or tools and/or get experience teaching a workshop session (both of which can go on your CV!).

Sessions can include, but are not limited to:

digital editions

data analytics

data science core concepts

text analysis

introductory digital methods

critical technology studies methods

primers in programming languages

podcasting

maker culture

text-based video games (e.g. Twine)

digital archives

and more!
