The Washington, D.C. Experience
Every fall, the Lincoln Center selects a small group of ASU students to join us in Washington, D.C. for a weekend conference alongside Chautauqua staff. Students on the Student Advisory Board will take a leadership role in developing the following year's summer experience in Chautauqua, N.Y.
Students can also take advantage of being located in the heart of our nation's capital and visit museums, historical sites, or the White House.
The Chautauqua Institution Experience
Every summer, a small group of ASU students attend a week of immersive summer programming at the Chautauqua Institution, a community of artists, educators, thinkers, faith leaders and friends dedicated to the legacy of life-long learning, located in the countryside of southwestern New York.
Students attending the summer program will get to join this long-standing community by innovating and experimenting as part of this legacy. Fellows share a rented cottage that is minutes away from dozens of daily lectures, classes, and performances—or some lakeside recreation.
About our Partnership

David Lincoln attended the Chautauqua Institution every summer with his family as a child, and continued his family's legacy at the Institution by establishing a partnership between ASU and Chautauqua through the Lincoln Center.
The Lincoln Center is engaging students to actively participate in critical discussions about what it means to be human and to ethically innovate. Our partnership enables students to be collaborators in the Chautauqua tradition of stimulating creative responses to the issues we face in today’s society.
