Some of the world's most important challenges have no easy answers. The Lincoln Center Ethics Bowl team prepares students to examine complex ethical questions, engage with diverse perspectives and develop thoughtful, evidence-based arguments. Through rigorous preparation and national competition, students build the confidence and skills to lead meaningful conversations on the issues shaping our communities and our future.
What is the Ethics Bowl team?
The Lincoln Center Ethics Bowl team is a competitive program where students prepare for regional and national Ethics Bowl competitions by analyzing real-world ethical cases and presenting well-reasoned arguments. Team members strengthen their ethical reasoning, research and public speaking skills while learning to navigate complex issues with respect and intellectual rigor.
Participants may also earn the designation of Chautauqua Scholar and, through the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics' partnership with the Chautauqua Institution, have opportunities for sponsored travel to competitions and other educational experiences.

Who should join the Ethics Bowl team?
This opportunity is for students who enjoy asking difficult questions, thinking critically and collaborating with others to solve complex problems. Because the Ethics Bowl team is a competitive commitment, participants should be prepared to practice outside of class, contribute consistently to their team and travel to competitions throughout the academic year.
